
HOSUR

Hosur is about 800-year-old town. Hosur was initially a part of Mysore kingdom. But in 1799, when Tipu Sultan was defeated in the third Anglo- Mysore war, he gave the southern part of Mysore to the British government which included Hosur. Then, Hosur was made as a capital of Salem District by British Government. In 1992, Hosur was upgraded to Second Grade Municipality and in 1998, it was upgraded to Selection Grade Municipality. With the development of SIPCOT, Hosur became an industrial town.
